Mute a Chat

You can mute a chat to stop receiving notifications for new messages without leaving the conversation.

Prerequisites  

  • Stable Internet: A stable internet connection is required to mute/unmute a chat and sync the preference across your devices.

How to Mute a Chat  

You can mute any individual chat or group for a selected duration. During this duration, you will not receive any notifications from the muted chat.

From the Chat List

  • Go to your main chat list.
  • Tap and hold the chat you want to mute.
  • Tap Mute in the menu that appears.
  • A menu with duration options will appear. Select from 1 Hour, 8 Hours, 1 Day, 1 Week, or Forever.
  • Tap OK.
  • The chat will be muted for the selected duration.

iOS
  • Go to your main chat list.
  • Tap and hold the chat you want to mute.
  • Tap Mute chat in the menu that appears.
  • A menu with duration options will appear. Select from 1 Hour, 8 Hours, 1 Day, 1 Week, or Forever.
  • The chat will be muted for the selected duration.

Web
  • Go to your main chat list.
  • Place the cursor on the chat you want to mute.
  • Click the  more menu. Select Mute.
  • The chat will be muted until you choose to unmute.

From the Chat Screen

  • Open the chat you want to mute.
  • Tap the  more menu in the top right corner.
  • Tap Mute.

  • Click Mute.
  • The chat will be muted until you choose to unmute.

How to Change Mute Duration  

You can easily update the mute duration for a chat at any time.

Note: Muted duration cannot be changed directly on Android. Users have to unmute the chat and mute it again with the preferred duration.

How to Unmute a Chat  

You can unmute a chat anytime to start receiving notifications again.
