Delete Message/Chat

You can manage your conversations by deleting specific messages, clearing an entire chat history, or deleting a chat from your device.

​Note: 

  • 'Delete for me' works for both sent and received messages across individual chats, group chats, channels and broadcasts.

  • 'Delete for everyone' works only for sent messages across individual chats, group chats, channels and broadcasts. 

  • Group owners can choose to delete any participant's message for everyone by choosing an appropriate reason. 

Prerequisites  

  • Stable Internet: A stable internet connection is required to send the delete request for everyone. 

How to Delete a Message For Myself

This action removes a sent or received message from the chat only for you and cannot be undone.​

  • Tap and hold the message you want to delete.
  • Tap Delete in the menu that appears
  • Tap the Delete for me.

iOS
  • Tap and hold the message you want to delete.
  • Tap the Delete for me in the menu that appears.
  • Select more messages if required. You can select up to 25.
  • Tap the  delete icon at the bottom-right of the screen.

Web
  • Place the cursor on the message you want to delete.
  • Click the ⋯ more menu.
  • Click the Delete for me in the menu that appears.
  • Select more messages if required. You can select up to 25.
  • Click the  Delete at the bottom-right of the screen.

How to Delete For Everyone

This action removes a sent message from the chat for everyone. When deleted, it will leave a “This message has been deleted” trace in the chat and cannot be undone.

How to Clear All Messages in a Chat  

This action removes all messages from a chat for you and cannot be undone. It will still remain visible for other participants.

How to Delete a Chat  

This action deletes the entire chat from your chat list and cannot be undone. The chat and its messages will still be visible to other participants.

  • Long press on the chat you want to delete.
  • Tap Delete chat in the menu that appears.
