Manage Storage

The Storage Usage option helps you understand how much space media files take up in Arattai and gives you control to manage them effectively. You can review storage usage, clear unwanted media, and manage storage for individual chats on Android and iOS.

Prerequisites  

  • Stable Internet: A stable internet connection is required to load storage details and apply the changes successfully.

Understanding Storage Usage  

The Storage Usage option provides a detailed view of how much space media such as images, videos, audio, and files consume in Arattai.
This function helps you identify large files and conversations that use the most storage.

How to Manage Storage Usage  

Clear Cache by Chat

  • Tap the  more menu on the Chats screen.
  • Go to Settings→Data & storage.
  • Select Storage usage.
  • All your chats that contain media will be displayed.
  • Tap a chat to view the stored media size.
  • Media types, such as images, videos, audio, and files, will be shown.
  • Select the items you want to remove.
  • Tap Clear to free up storage.

Clear All Cache

The Clear All Cache option lets you clear the space used by stored media in the overall application.
  • Go to Settings→Data & storage.
  • Under Clear all cache, tap Overall Media to view storage usage by media type.
  • Review the storage used by images, videos, audio, and files.
  • Select items and tap Clear.

 

FAQs  

1. Does clearing media delete messages from chats?
No. Clearing media removes files stored on your device, but does not delete chat messages.

2. Will cleared media be removed from other devices?
No. Media is cleared only from the device where the action is performed.

3. Can I recover cleared media?
There is no option to recover the cleared media. However, the media can be downloaded again manually from the chat if required.
