Block a Contact

Prerequisites  

  • Stable Internet: A stable internet connection is required to sync changes to your block list.

About Blocking  

You can block a contact to stop receiving unwanted messages and calls from them.

What Happens When You Block:
  • They cannot call or message you on Arattai.
  • They cannot see your last seen, online status, or profile picture.
  • You will not receive any messages or calls from them.
  • You will no longer receive notifications from them.
  • Existing chat history remains in your app but will be inactive until you unblock them.
     
What Blocking Doesn't Do:
  • It does not delete your chat history with the contact.
  • It does not remove the contact from your contact list.
  • It does not notify the blocked person that you’ve blocked them.
  • It does not prevent the person from being in the same groups as you.

How to Block a Contact

  • Open the chat with the contact you want to block.
  • Tap the contact's name at the top of the chat to open their profile.
  • Scroll down to the bottom.
  • Tap Block [Contact name].
  • A confirmation dialog box will appear.
  • There will be an option to report spam here. 
  • Select the Report as Spam checkbox to also report as spam (optional).
  • Tap Block to confirm.

  • Find the contact you want to block on your chat list.
  • Tap and hold the contact's chat.
  • Tap Block in the menu. 
  • A confirmation dialog box will appear.
  • Tap Block to confirm.

iOS
  • Open the chat with the contact you want to block.
  • Tap the contact's name at the top of the chat to open their profile.
  • Scroll down to the bottom.
  • Select Block the contact.
  • A confirmation dialog box will appear.
  • Tap Block to confirm.

Web
  • Open the chat with the contact you want to block.
  • Click the contact's name at the top of the chat to open their profile.
  • Scroll down and click Block user.
  • A confirmation dialog box will appear.
  • There will be an option to report spam here. 
  • Select the Report spam checkbox to also report as spam (optional).
  • Click Block to confirm.

  • Unblock the user from the chat list:
    • Find the contact you want to unblock on your chat list.
    • Tap and hold the contact's chat.
    • Tap Unblock user in the menu. 
    • The user will be unblocked.
  • Unblock the user from the individual's chat:
    • Open the chat with the contact you have blocked.
    • Tap Unblock below on the chat.
    • The user will be unblocked.
  • Unblock the user from the user's profile:
    • Open the chat with the contact you have blocked.
    • Tap the contact's name at the top of the chat to open their profile.
    • Scroll down to the bottom.
    • Tap Unblock [Contact name].
    • The user will be unblocked.

  • Unblock the user from the individual's chat:
    • Open the chat with the contact you have blocked.
    • Tap Unblock below on the chat.
    • The user will be unblocked.
  • Unblock the user from the user's profile:
    • Open the chat with the contact you have blocked.
    • Tap the contact's name at the top of the chat to open their profile.
    • Scroll down to the bottom.
    • Tap Unblock.
    • A confirmation dialog box will appear. Tap Unblock.
    • The user will be unblocked.

  • Unblock the user from the individual's chat:
    • Open the chat with the contact you have blocked. 
    • Click Unblock below on the chat. 
    • The user will be unblocked.
  • Unblock the user from the user's profile: 
    • Click the contact's name at the top of the chat to open their profile. 
    • Scroll down and click Unblock user. 
    • A confirmation dialog box will appear. Click Unblock. 
    • The user will be unblocked.

Manage Blocked Contacts  

You can manage all your blocked contacts in one place, including viewing, adding, and unblocking the users.

  • Tap the ☰ menu on the top left of your chat list.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Security & privacy, tap Blocked contacts.
  • You will see a list of people you have blocked.
  • To block a new person, tap the  plus icon at the right-bottom. Use the contact list to find and tap a contact's name, then tap Block to confirm.
  • To unblock someone, tap on their name in the blocked list and tap Unblock.

iOS
  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Security & Privacy, tap Blocked users.
  • You will see a list of people you have blocked.
  • To block a new person, tap the  add contact icon at the right-bottom. Use the contact list to find and tap a contact's name, then tap Block to confirm.
  • To unblock someone, tap on their name in the blocked list to view their profile.
  • Scroll down, tap Unblock, and confirm by tapping Unblock from the dialog box.
    Alternatively, you could touch the blocked contact's name and swipe left, and tap the  delete icon to unblock.

Web
  • Click the ☰ menu on the bottom left of your chat list.
  • Go to Settings, select Security & privacy.
  • You will find Blocked users with the number of blocked contacts (4 contacts). Click on it. 
  • You can view the list of blocked users here.
  • To unblock someone, place the cursor on the profile of a blocked user from the list, and click Unblock.
