Manage Privacy Settings

Privacy settings in Arattai let you control who can view your information and who can contact you. These controls apply across all devices, helping you manage your visibility and interactions with confidence.

Stable Internet: A stable connection is required for changes to be saved successfully.

About Privacy Settings  

Arattai gives you control over who can see your information and who can interact with you.  The privacy options available depend on the setting and include: 
  • Everybody
  • My Contacts & Verified Profiles
  • My Contacts
  • Nobody
Some settings also support exceptions, letting you include or exclude specific contacts even after choosing a visibility option.

  • Tap the More menu on the Chats screen.
  • Go to Settings.

Privacy Controls

Profile Picture  
Choose who can see your profile picture:
  • Everybody
  • My Contacts
  • Nobody
You can add exceptions to allow or restrict specific contacts.
 
Phone Number  
Control who can see your phone number:
  • Everybody
  • My Contacts
  • Nobody
You can add exceptions to allow or restrict specific contacts.

Note:
Irrespective of these settings, your phone number will be visible when you initiate a new chat with a user and to users who have saved your contact on their device.

Last Seen and Online Status  
Decide who can see when you were last active or if you are currently online:
  • Everybody
  • My Contacts
  • Nobody
Exceptions are not available for this setting.

New Chat  
Control who can start a new chat with you:
  • Everybody
  • My Contacts & Verified Profiles
  • My Contacts
  • Nobody
My Contacts & Verified Profiles allows people in your contacts and verified profiles to initiate a new chat with you. You can add exceptions to allow or restrict specific contacts.
 
Calls  
Decide who can call you on Arattai:
  • Everybody
  • My contacts & Verified profiles
  • My Contacts
  • Nobody
You can add exceptions to allow or restrict specific contacts.

Meeting Invites  
Control who can invite you to meetings:
  • Everybody
  • My Contacts
  • Nobody
You can add exceptions to allow or restrict specific contacts.

Add to Groups
Choose who can add you to groups:
  • Everybody
  • My Contacts
  • Nobody
You can add exceptions to allow or restrict specific contacts.

Read Receipts
Control whether read receipts are displayed for messages.
When enabled, messages sent and received will display a double tick and the message read time.

Protect IP Address in Calls
Protect your IP address during calls by relaying calls through the Arattai server.
Enabling this may reduce call quality.

Yes. Privacy settings are linked to your account and apply across Android, iOS, and Web.

Exceptions allow you to include or exclude specific contacts from a selected privacy option.

3. What are exceptions in privacy settings?
Verified profiles are profiles that have been verified using Aadhaar or by Arattai. When you select My Contacts & Verified Profiles for New Chat or Calls, users in your contacts and verified profiles can initiate a new chat or call with you.
