About Groups
Groups allow you to have a single conversation with multiple contacts at once. You can use groups to coordinate with friends, collaborate on projects, and share messages with a large audience.
Participants
A group can have up to 1,000 active participants.
Participants include an owner, admins and members.
Admins
A group can have up to 50 admins. Admins can manage:
Who can update group info
Who can send messages
Who can add participants
Who can forward messages
Who can pin messages
Whether participants can add reactions
Who can organise meetings
Who can change the chat background
Add, remove, promote or demote other admins or participants
Group Owner
The owner has all the rights of an admin, with additional privileges:
How to Create a Group
Android
On the chat list, tap the
plus icon in the bottom-right corner. Select New group from the options at the top.
Tap on the names of the contacts you want to add to the group.
Tap the
next arrow below. Enter a name for the group and add description (optional).
You can also add a group photo.
Tap Create to finish.
iOS
On the chat list, tap the
plus icon in the bottom-right corner. Select New group from the options at the top.
Tap on the names of the contacts you want to add to the group.
Tap the
next arrow below. Enter a name for the group and add description (optional).
You can also add a group photo.
Tap Create group to finish.
Web
On the chat list, click the
plus icon at the top. Select New group from the menu.
Select the contacts you want to add, and click Next.
If you choose not to add anyone, click Skip.
Enter a name for the group and add description (optional).
You can also add a group photo.
Click Save to finish.
Note:
You may not be able to add a person to the group if they have restricted it in their privacy settings. In this case, you will have to send them an invite link separately.
