General
1. What is the Green Verified badge on Arattai?
The Green Verified badge is an optional identity verification feature for users in India. Verification is completed through the official Aadhaar app. Arattai only receives confirmation that verification was successful and does not receive or store your Aadhaar name, Aadhaar number, biometrics, face authentication data, OTP, or any other Aadhaar identity information.
2. Is Green Verification mandatory?
No. Verification is completely optional and you can continue using Arattai without verifying your account.
3. Is this a paid feature?
No. Aadhaar Verification is completely free. Unlike paid verification programs on some platforms, Arattai verifies a user's identity through Aadhaar. It is a trust initiative, not a monetisation feature.
4. Why is Arattai introducing Aadhaar Verification?
Verifying that someone is a real, unique person needs a trusted way to confirm identity. Aadhaar is India's most widely held identity credential, and it supports secure, instant verification through the official Aadhaar app, so most people in India can verify in seconds, without paperwork, waiting, or a manual KYC process.
It confirms a real person without sharing sensitive data. The check happens inside the official Aadhaar app, run by UIDAI. Arattai only receives a confirmation that it succeeded, never your Aadhaar number or biometric data.
Aadhaar's verification is designed to confirm identity securely and at scale, which is what makes a simple, reliable green tick possible.
5. What problem does Aadhaar Verification solve?
It helps reduce:
While it makes impersonation significantly harder through name matching and face authentication, it is an additional trust signal, not a complete anti-fraud solution.
6. Who benefits most from the Green Verified badge?
The Green Verified badge is especially useful for:
Business owners, freelancers, recruiters, community admins, marketplace sellers, content creators, and customer-facing professionals who want to prove they are a real, verified person and build trust with customers, clients, and communities.
Anyone who frequently receives messages from unknown people, as the Green Verified badge helps others know there is a real, verified person on the other side of the conversation.
7. I'm only chatting with friends. Do I need it?
Not at all. Verification is entirely optional, and Arattai works the same whether you choose to verify or not.
Most conversations happen with people you already know. Verification simply makes those new conversations feel a little easier. When someone outside your contacts messages you, the verified badge lets you know they're a real, confirmed person, so you can decide whether you'd like to respond.

Verification Process
12. Who can use Aadhaar Verification?
Aadhaar Verification is available only to users registered with an Indian (+91) mobile number.
13. How do I get verified?
Open Profile > Get Verified.
Launch the official Aadhaar app (or scan the QR code on Web).
Complete Aadhaar verification.
Return to Arattai.
If your display name satisfies the supported naming rules, you'll receive the Green Verified badge.
14. Why didn't I receive the badge?
Common reasons include:
Your display name doesn't meet the supported naming rules.
Verification wasn't completed successfully.
Identity verification failed.
You've reached the verification attempt limit. To prevent misuse, verification attempts are rate limited:
5 verification failures in a day – try again after 24 hours.
More than 5 verification attempts within 15 minutes – verification will be temporarily locked.
3 verify/unverify cycles in a week – you can verify again the following week.
Depending on the number and pattern of failed attempts, the temporary lock may last between 1 and 7 days.
Name Matching & Badge Lifecycle
15. Does my display name have to exactly match my Aadhaar name?
Not necessarily.
Your Arattai display name does not have to exactly match your full Aadhaar name, but it must consist of one or more complete words from your Aadhaar name and comply with the supported naming rules.
For example, if your Aadhaar name is "Kishore Kumar", display names such as "Kishore", "Kumar", or "Kishore Kumar" are supported. However, partial words or unrelated nicknames are not supported. For example, "Kish" will not qualify for verification if your Aadhaar name is "Kishore".
16. What happens if I change my display name?
Any change to your Arattai display name will remove your Green Verified badge. Since Arattai does not store your Aadhaar name after verification, it cannot determine whether your updated display name still complies with the supported naming rules. If you change your display name, you'll need to verify your identity again to restore your Green Verified badge.
17. What happens if I change my phone number?
Changing your registered phone number removes the Aadhaar Verified badge. You'll need to complete verification again.
18. Can I remove my verification later?
Yes. You can remove your verification at any time from the Arattai app.
