About Aadhaar verification
Aadhaar is India’s government-issued identity system. It is a 12-digit unique identity number that serves as proof of identity and address for residents of India. Arattai has partnered with Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to bring India’s most trusted identity infrastructure directly into the app.
Arattai uses Aadhaar to verify that users are real, unique individuals. During verification, your display name is validated against your Aadhaar identity, and face authentication is completed through the official Aadhaar app.
Aadhaar verification is currently available only to Indian users and is optional. Verified accounts receive a green tick that is visible across Arattai, so others know they are talking to a real person. Verified users get a trusted identity across chats, calls, channels, and search.
Arattai does not store your Aadhaar name, Aadhaar number, biometric information, face authentication data, OTP, or any other Aadhaar identity information.
Prerequisites
Verification is available to Indian users only: Your Arattai account must be registered with an Indian phone number (+91).
Aadhaar app: The official Aadhaar app must be installed on your mobile device.
Before Verification
Install and set up your Aadhaar app on the same device you are using the Arattai app on. Download it for Android or iOS. Update your Arattai display name so that it matches your Aadhaar-registered name according to the rules below. You can do this from Profile settings.
The following rules apply:
Every word in your Arattai name must appear in your Aadhaar name.
You can reorder your name or use part of it.
Nicknames, phonetic matches, and extra words that are not in your Aadhaar name are not accepted.
Example Aadhaar name: Ananya Priya Mohan
Accepted: Ananya, Priya Mohan, Ananya Mohan, Ananya Priya
Not accepted: Ani, Anu, Ananya Raj, Priya Raj, Ananya P
Note: Changing your display name will remove your green verification badge. You will have to verify your profile again.

FAQs
1. My verification keeps failing. What do I do?
Start by checking that your Arattai display name matches your Aadhaar-registered name exactly, as this is the most common reason. If it’s still not working after a couple of tries, verification will pause until the next day.
2. Does Arattai store my Aadhaar name or number?
No. Arattai does not store your Aadhaar name, Aadhaar number, biometric information, face authentication data, OTP, or any other Aadhaar identity information. Verification is completed entirely through the official Aadhaar app, and Arattai only receives confirmation that the verification was successful.
3. Is verification available outside India?
Not at the moment. Since Aadhaar is India’s government-issued identity system, verification is only available for accounts registered with an Indian phone number (+91).
4. Is verification mandatory?
No. Verification is completely optional, and you can use Arattai without it. You can get your profile verified to prove your authenticity.
5. Will changing my name remove my green tick?
Yes. Any change to your Arattai display name removes your Green Verified badge. Since Arattai does not store your Aadhaar name after verification, you'll need to verify again to restore your badge.
6. Why was I locked out of verification?
This happens when there are too many failed attempts in a short period: more than 5 in a day, more than 5 within 15 minutes, or if you’ve verified and removed your verification 3 times in the same week. It’s a security measure, not a permanent block. Wait for the lockout to lift and try again. The lockout may last up to 1 to 7 days depending on the number of failed attempts.
7. Why am I seeing "We couldn't verify your name"?
This happens when your entered name does not match your Aadhaar name.
Example Aadhaar name: Ananya Priya Mohan
Accepted: Ananya, Priya Mohan, Ananya Mohan, Ananya Priya
Not accepted: Ani, Anu, Ananya Raj, Priya Raj, Ananya
