A greeting message is sent automatically when a customer contacts you for the first time or again after a gap you choose. It acknowledges every new customer the moment they reach out, even when you cannot reply in person.
Prerequisites
Stable internet: A stable internet connection is required to set up and send greeting messages.
A business account: Greeting messages are configured per business profile, from the Business Hub.
When a Greeting Message Sends
A greeting is sent when a customer reaches out for the first time, or again after your chosen re-greet period has passed. It is triggered by a new incoming message or a missed call.
Re-greet After
This controls when a customer who has already been greeted becomes eligible for another greeting. The window is measured from the last message in the conversation, sent or received by either side.
Option | How it works |
7 days | A customer is greeted again after 7 days with no messages either way. |
14 days (default) | A customer is greeted again after 14 days with no messages either way. |
30 days | A customer is greeted again after 30 days with no messages either way. |
Never | Once greeted, a customer is never greeted again. |
"Never" is permanent, it is not the same as turning the greeting off. The greeting still fires on a customer's true first contact and it simply never repeats for that customer.

Note: [Business Name] is filled in automatically from your business profile.
Good to Know
First contact, or after a gap: The greeting fires on a customer's first message and, depending on your re-greet period, again after a gap.
Messages and missed calls both count: A new incoming message or a missed call can trigger the greeting.
Shared settings: Message content, attachments, and recipient options work the same for greeting and away messages. See "About Automated Messages".
