Passcode Deprecation in Arattai - Android

Passcode Deprecation in Arattai - Android

Arattai is updating its app security system. The Passcode lock feature will be deprecated and replaced with biometric authentication (Fingerprint or Face Unlock) on supported Android devices.

What is Changing

Starting 30 May 2026, the Passcode lock feature in Arattai Android will be deprecated.
This means:
  • New passcodes cannot be created
  • Existing passcodes will continue to work
  • Existing passcodes cannot be changed
  • Biometric unlock will become the recommended way to secure your app

If Your Device Supports Biometrics

(Fingerprint or Face Unlock available)
You should enable biometric unlock to keep your app protected.
To enable biometric unlock:
  1. Open Arattai
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Tap Security & Privacy
  4. Tap App lock
  5. Turn ON Unlock with biometrics
  6. Verify using your fingerprint or face
Once enabled:
  • You can unlock Arattai using biometrics
  • Your existing passcode will still work
  • After deprecation, your passcode cannot be changed

If Your Device Does NOT Support Biometrics

You can continue using your existing passcode.
However:
  • Your passcode cannot be changed
  • If you delete your passcode, you cannot create a new one

What Happens During the Transition

Before the deprecation date, you may see an alert such as:
"Passcode is being deprecated"
This is a reminder to enable biometric unlock if your device supports it.
You may also see:
  • A notice to enable biometrics within a limited time
  • A message indicating that passcode changes will be disabled soon

After 30 May 2026

Passcodes cannot be newly enabled or updated.
You can:
  • Continue unlocking using your existing passcode
  • Use biometric unlock (if enabled)
You cannot:
  • Change your passcode
  • Create a new passcode

Important Information

If You Delete Your Passcode
Deleting your passcode will:
  • Remove app lock protection
  • Prevent you from creating a new passcode
  • Disable passcode-based locking permanently
You will see a confirmation message before deletion.

Why Is Passcode Being Deprecated

Biometric authentication provides:
  • Stronger security
  • Faster unlocking
  • Better protection using device-level security
This change helps improve overall security and aligns with modern Android standards.
