Lock Your App with App Lock on Arattai

App Lock

The App Lock setting adds an extra layer of security to your Arattai app by requiring a passcode before access. 
This feature is available on Android and iOS.

Prerequisites  

  • Device Security Enabled: Your device must support PIN, password, or biometric authentication to use this feature.

Understanding App Lock  

When Passcode Lock is enabled, you will be required to enter a passcode each time you open the Arattai app.
Note: Entering a wrong pin more than 6 times will terminate the session.

Passcode Options by Platform

You can choose between:
  • PIN
  • Password
Once set, the passcode must be entered to access the app.

iOS
While setting a passcode, you can choose from:
  • Custom Alphanumeric Code
  • Custom Numeric Code
  • 4 - Digit Numeric Code
Once set, the passcode must be entered to access the app.

 

How to Set Up App Lock

  • Tap the  more menu on the Chats screen.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Tap Security & privacy.
  • Go to Passcode lock.
  • Enable the Passcode toggle.
  • Tap PIN to change the type of passcode. 
  • Enter a new passcode, tap Next.
  • Re-enter the passcode and tap SUBMIT.
iOS
  • Go to Settings.
  • Tap Security & Privacy.
  • Enable the Passcode Lock toggle.
  • Tap Passcode Options to change the type of passcode. 
  • Enter a new passcode.
  • Re-enter the passcode to confirm.

  • Go to Passcode lock.
  • Enter the current passcode.
  • Tap Change Passcode.
  • Enter the current passcode.
  • Tap PIN to change the type of passcode. 
  • Enter a new passcode, tap Next.
  • Re-enter the passcode and tap SUBMIT.

  • Tap Security & Privacy.
  • Tap Change Password.
  • Enter the current passcode.
  • Tap Passcode Options to change the type of passcode. 
  • Enter a new passcode.
  • Re-enter the passcode to confirm.
  

How to Disable App Lock

  • Tap the  more menu on the Chats screen.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Tap Security & privacy.
  • Go to Passcode lock.
  • Enter the current passcode.
  • Disable the Passcode toggle.

  • Go to Settings.
  • Tap Security & Privacy.
  • Disable the Passcode Lock toggle.
  • Enter the current passcode to confirm.

 

Auto Lock Settings  

Auto Lock determines how quickly Arattai locks itself after the app is closed.

  • Tap the  more menu on the Chats screen.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Tap Security & privacy.
  • Go to Passcode lock.
  • Enter the current passcode.
  • Tap Auto-Lock.
  • Choose your Auto lock preference:
    • Immediately
    • After 30 seconds
    • After 1 minute
    • After 5 minutes
    • After 10 minutes
Once enabled, Arattai will automatically lock based on the selected time.

  • Go to Settings.
  • Tap Security & Privacy.
  • Tap Auto-Lock.
  • Choose your Auto lock preference:
    • Immediately
    • After 1 minute
    • After 3 minutes
    • After 5 minutes
    • After 10 minutes
Once enabled, Arattai will automatically lock based on the selected time.

 

How to Use Face ID   

This setting is only available on iOS. You can unlock Arattai using Face ID instead of entering your passcode.

  • Go to Settings.
  • Tap Security & Privacy.
  • Toggle On Unlock with Face ID to enable.
  • Toggle it Off to disable.

  
Note: 
  • You must have set up Face ID on your device to enable this setting on Arattai.
  • When enabled, Arattai unlocks automatically once Face ID is verified. You will not be prompted to enter your passcode.
 

How to Use Fingerprint

 
This setting is only available on Android. You can unlock Arattai using fingerprint instead of entering your passcode.

  • Go to Settings.
  • Tap Security & privacy.
  • Go to Passcode lock.
  • Enter the current passcode.
  • Toggle On Unlock with fingerprint to enable. 
  • Toggle it Off to disable.

  
Note: 
  • You must have set up Fingerprint on your device to enable this setting on Arattai.

FAQs  

1. Is Passcode Lock available on the web app?
No. Passcode Lock is available only on Android and iOS.


2. What happens if I forget my passcode?
For security reasons, a forgotten passcode cannot be recovered.


3. Does Passcode Lock affect notifications?
Notifications will appear, but message previews are hidden when passcode lock is enabled, regardless of your message preview settings. Previews are only visible when the app is open.


4. Does Auto Lock apply when switching apps?
Yes. Arattai locks automatically based on your selected Auto Lock duration.
