About Export Chat  

Export Chat lets you save your Arattai chat history as a ZIP file. You can choose to export your chat with or without media, so you can keep a personal record of conversations or share them.
Direct chats only: Export Chat is available only for direct chats, which are protected with end-to-end encryption.
Chat record: Your messages are saved in a readable text file, along with timestamps and sender names.
Media included or excluded: You decide whether photos, videos, documents, audio, stickers, GIFs, and shared contacts are part of the export.

Prerequisites  

    • Stable Internet: A stable internet connection is required to export chats.
    • Storage: Ensure your device has enough free storage, especially when exporting with media.
    • Messages available: The chat must contain at least one message. Empty chats cannot be exported.

How to Export a Chat  

You can export a chat directly from the chat screen on Android or iOS. Make sure you are inside a direct chat. The option is not available in group chats or channels.

  • Open the chat you want to export.
  • Tap the ⋮ more menu icon at the top right of the chat.
  • Tap More.
  • Tap Export chat.
  • Choose Without media or Include media.
    The chat is directly exported if there's no media present in the conversation.
  • Select an app from the share sheet to save or send your exported ZIP file.

iOS
  • Open the chat you want to export.
  • Tap the chat name to open chat info.
  • Scroll down and tap Export chat.
  • Choose Export without media or Export with media.
    The chat is directly exported if there's no media present in the conversation.
  • Select an app from the share sheet to save or send your exported ZIP file.

 
Note: If the chat contains a large amount of media, the export may take a little longer to prepare. Keep the app open until the share sheet appears.
 
The exported file will be a ZIP named Arattai Chat - $username.zip.
Inside the ZIP file you'll find:
  • chat_messages.txt: a readable text file with the full chat history.
  • All media files from the chat (only if you chose to export with media).
     

Export Options  

When you tap Export chat, you can choose one of two options based on how much you want to include.

Export Without Media  

  • Saves only your messages in a text file.
  • Media files such as photos, videos, documents, audio, stickers, GIFs, and shared contacts are not included.
  • Each media message appears in the text file as a short placeholder, such as Image omitted.
  • Best when you only need a record of the conversation or want to keep the file size small.

Export With Media  

  • Saves your messages along with every media file shared in the chat.
  • The text file shows the message history with references to the attached media files.
  • All media files are bundled into the same ZIP, next to the text file.
  • Best when you want a complete archive of the chat, including everything shared.
