Customise Notification Sounds

Prerequisites  

  • Stable Internet: A stable internet connection is required for the timely delivery of notifications.
  • Device Permissions: Ensure your device allows Arattai to send you notifications.
     

How to Customise Notification Sounds  

You can control notification sounds for:
  1. Direct Messages
  2. Groups 
  3. Channels
  4. Message Reactions
 
Note: Notification settings do not sync across multiple devices and are managed independently.

Note: On Android, notification sounds and vibration settings are managed by the device system. Arattai redirects you to system settings to apply these changes.
  • Tap the  more menu on the Chats screen.
  • Go to Settings→Notifications.
  • You will find the controls for Direct messages, Group, Channel, and Message reactions.
  • Each of these controls will show a Sound & vibrate option.
  • Tap it, and you will be redirected to your system settings where you can change or set new sounds and vibrations for notifications.

iOS
  • Go to Settings→Notifications & Sounds.
  • You will find the controls for Direct Messages & Mentions, Group Messages, Channel Messages, and Message reactions. 
  • Each of these controls will show a Sound option.
  • Tap it, and a list of sounds will appear.
  • Tap any sound to hear it and tap Save.
  • Your notification sound will be updated.

Web
  • Tap the  more menu on the Chats screen.
  • Go to Settings→Notifications.
  • Under Notification sound, you will find the controls for Direct messages, Groups, Channels, and Message reactions.
  • Click on the current tone name (e.g., BigHearts).
  • A menu with a list of sounds will appear.
  • Place your cursor on any sound to hear it. 
  • Click to apply the tone.
 
In Arattai web or desktop application, you can choose to enable or disable notification sounds based on the notification types. 
  • Click the  more menu on the Chats screen.
  • Go to Settings→Notifications.
  • Find the toggle switch next to Notification sound.
  • Toggle it On to enable or toggle it Off to disable all notification sounds. 
  • You can also control it individually for Direct messages, Groups, Channels, and Message reactions.

1. Can I set different notification sounds for Direct Messages, Groups, and Channels?
Yes. You can customise notification sounds separately for Direct Messages, Groups, Channels, and Message Reactions, depending on the platform you are using.

2. Will changing the notification sound affect all my devices?
No. Notification sound settings are device-specific. You must configure them separately on each device.

3. Can I turn off notification sounds without disabling notifications?
Yes. You can disable notification sounds while continuing to receive visual notifications.
