Change Your Phone Number

Prerequisites  

  • Stable Internet: A stable internet connection is required to complete the migration and verification process.
  • Primary Device: Phone number can be changed only on your primary device.
  • Device Access: The SIM card for the new phone number should be active in a device to receive OTP.
  • Account: The new phone number must not be linked to any other Arattai account.
     

What Happens When You Change Your Number  

The change process is designed to be seamless, carrying over all essential data:
  • Data Migration: Your entire chat history, cloud data, groups, profile settings, and account details are migrated to the new number. 
  • Contact Update: Your new number will get automatically updated and auto-saved for all your Arattai contacts.They do not need to save your new number manually. 
  • Block List & Privacy: Your block list, privacy settings, and security controls remain intact and are transferred to the new number.
     

How to Change Your Phone Number

  • Tap the  more menu on the Chats screen.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Tap Accounts.
  • Tap Change phone number.
  • Review the on-screen information and tap Next.
  • Enter your New Phone Number and tap Send OTP.
  • Check the entered number.
  • Tap Edit to make any changes or tap Yes to proceed.
  • You will receive a verification OTP via SMS on your new phone number.
  • Enter the OTP and tap Verify.

iOS
  • Go to Settings.
  • Tap Accounts.
  • Tap Change phone number.
  • Review the on-screen information and tap Next.
  • Enter your New Phone Number and tap Continue.
  • You will receive a verification OTP via SMS on your new phone number.
  • Enter the OTP and tap Verify.

FAQs

1. Do my contacts get notified when I change my phone number?
No. Arattai does not notify your contacts when you change your phone number. Your new number is automatically updated for contacts who already had access to your number.


2. Can I change my phone number if I lost access to the old number?
You can change your phone number without access to your old number as long as you are logged in to your Arattai account on your primary device. If both your old number and primary device are lost, you will not be able to change your number.


3. What happens if my new phone number is already registered on Arattai?
You will not be able to use that number unless its associated Arattai account is deleted.


4. Will changing my phone number log me out of other devices?
No, changing your phone number will not log you out of other devices. All your logged-in sessions will remain active.
