Troubleshoot Notifications
The Troubleshoot Notifications tool is a built-in diagnostic function designed specifically for Android users. If you are not receiving alerts, this tool automatically scans your device and app settings to identify issues that block notifications.
Prerequisites
Android Device: This feature is currently available only on the Android version of Arattai.
Latest App Version: Ensure you are running the most recent update of Arattai from the Play Store.
Stable Internet: A stable internet connection is required to run the troubleshooter.
Why am I not receiving notifications?
There are several common reasons why notifications might stop appearing on your Android device. Understanding these can help you identify the issue even before running the troubleshooter:
Disabled App Permissions: You may have accidentally disabled notifications for Arattai in your phone's system settings or within the app's internal settings.
Battery Optimization: Some Android devices may restrict apps from running in the background, which could affect the notification delivery.
Connection Stability: A weak Wi-Fi or mobile data signal, or a network with a strict firewall, can prevent the app from maintaining a constant connection to our servers.
Do Not Disturb (DND) Mode: If you have enabled DND mode, all alerts are silenced unless Arattai has specific "DND Override" permissions.
Background Data Restrictions: If your device is set to restrict background data, Arattai cannot deliver notifications unless the app is actively open on your screen.
What the Troubleshooter Checks
When you run the tool, it performs a comprehensive scan of the following areas:
Internet Connection: Verifies that your device has a stable internet connection and can reach Arattai servers.
App Notification Permissions: Checks if notification permissions are granted at the system level.
Battery Optimization: Ensures your device's power-saving settings do not restrict Arattai notifications.
Notification Channels: Confirms that specific alert categories (like Direct Messages or Groups) are not individually disabled.
App Notification Settings: Scans internal Arattai settings to ensure alerts haven't been disabled.
Full Screen Notifications: Checks for permission to display alerts while your screen is locked.
DND Override Permission: Verifies if Arattai has permission to bypass "Do Not Disturb" modes if configured.
How the Troubleshooting Process Works
Automatic Scan: Once started, the tool begins checking the requirements listed above in sequence.
Issue Detection: If an issue is found, the troubleshooter pauses until the issue is resolved.
Resolution: You will be prompted with a redirection button that takes you directly to the specific Android setting that needs to be changed.
Resuming: Once you resolve the indicated setting, you can return to the app to continue the scan.
Final Test: After all checks pass, the app sends a test notification to your device to confirm that everything is working perfectly.
How to Troubleshoot Notifications
Tap the
more menu on the Chats screen. Go to Settings→Notifications.
Tap on Not receiving notification? Fix it.
Follow the on-screen prompts and ensure all the aspects shown are checked with a green tick.
Once the scan is complete, a test notification will appear to ensure the fix.
A dialog box will appear asking for confirmation. If you have received the test notification, tap Yes, notification received. If you did not receive the test notification, tap No, need help, and you will be redirected to the website.
