Transfer Ownership in Groups or Channels
About Ownership Transfer
Ownership transfer allows a group or channel owner to hand over full moderation rights to an existing admin. Once transferred, the new owner takes over complete control, and you automatically step down to admin.
Before you transfer:
Ownership can only be transferred to an existing admin, not to a regular participant or follower.
If there are no admins, you must first promote a participant or follower to admin before the transfer can take place.
After you transfer:
This action is permanent and cannot be undone. Once transferred, you lose all ownership rights.
You will remain in the group or channel as an admin.
The new owner will have full control, including the ability to remove or demote you.
