Mentions
Prerequisites
- Stable Internet: A stable internet connection is required for mentions.
- Common Group Chat: Both you and the participant you are mentioning must be members of the same Group Chat.
About the Mentions
Mentions are used to directly tag someone so they get notified and know the message is meant for them. Mentioning a participant ensures they receive a notification for that specific message, often overriding their group chat mute settings.
Mentions are only available within Group Chats. They cannot be used in one-on-one chats or channels. To initiate a mention, you must begin typing the @ symbol in the message input field.
All your @mentions are listed in a dedicated Mentions screen for easy access. Your @mentions will be listed there for 180 days and will be deleted automatically.
How to Mention a Participant
- Open the Group Chat where you wish to send the message.
- In the message input field, type the @ symbol.
- A list of all group members will appear.
- Begin typing the participant's name or scroll through the list.
- Tap or click the participant's name when it appears.
- Their @mention will be highlighted in the message bar.
- Finish composing your message and send.
