Make a Voice or Video Call

Make a Voice or Video Call

Arattai supports high-quality, one-on-one voice and video calls with any of your contacts. You can initiate calls from the chat view, previous call log, or from the global search, and seamlessly switch between voice and video during an active call.

Prerequisites

  • Stable Internet: A stable internet connection is required for making and receiving calls.
  • Permissions:
    • Arattai requires access to your device's Microphone (for voice) and Camera (for video).
    • Ensure your device allows Call notifications to receive calls from Arattai.
  • Arattai Account: Both you and the recipient must have an active Arattai account.
  • Privacy Settings: The receiver must have enabled receiving calls from you in their Arattai privacy settings.

About One-on-One Calls

Arattai currently supports one-on-one calls only.
  • Voice and Video: You can choose to start a call as either Voice or Video, and you can seamlessly switch between the two modes during the call. A call rings for up to 35 seconds and automatically hangs up if the receiver does not pick up. While calling, you can choose to MuteUnmute, or turn on/off Speaker, and you can turn on the Camera to switch to a video call after the person attends the call.
  • One-on-one calls on Web / Desktop application: Incoming calls will ring and show a round notification display on the Arattai screen. You can choose to attend or decline from that display. The  more menu has additional options like:
    • Settings - Control Device Settings and monitor Network Performance.
    • Start screen share - Start presenting your screen.
    • Share video - Switch to video call.
    • Open chat - Navigates to the caller's chat screen.
    • Open Picture-in-Picture - Opens a small picture screen showing the call, which is displayed across your system.

Note: Your call may not go through if the receiver has limited who can call them in their privacy settings. This also works vice versa, you may not receive calls from everyone if you have limited who can call you in your privacy settings.
