What Are Channels
Channels on Arattai are designed for sharing updates with a wide audience. Unlike regular group chats, channels work as a one-way broadcast space, where only the channel creator or assigned admins can post. Join channels that align with your interests and receive updates.
Who Can Use Channels
Channels can be used by two primary types of audiences, with different permissions and levels of interaction:
Creators: Users who own the channel. They can post, manage settings, assign admins, demote admins, and view the list of followers.
Admins: Users who administer the channel. They can post, manage settings, assign admins, demote admins, and view the list of followers.
Followers: Users who follow the channel. They receive updates, can react to posts, and stay informed.
Why Use Channels
Channels are highly effective for specific communication goals. Their benefits are structured for two main user types:
For Creators
Reach a larger audience - While group chats have a member limit, channels can accommodate significantly more followers.
Organised communication - Since only admins post, messages remain focused and structured.
Wide content reach - Channels allow anyone to discover and access your content, making them ideal for broadcasting news, updates, or community discussions.
For General Audience
Focus: Stay informed with clean, clutter-free updates without being pulled into back-and-forth chat discussions.
Privacy: Follow channels anonymously, other followers will not be able to see your profile. Channel creators and admins will be able to view the list of followers, but cannot reach out to them. Your phone number and username will also be protected if they aren't saved in your contacts. Nobody is notified when a follower joins or leaves.
Efficiency: Receive important updates directly without needing to constantly check a busy chat group.
Channel Categories
Channels are organized into specific categories to help users discover content relevant to their interests. When creating a channel, the creator will select the category that best fits their content, and users can find the channels based on these categories to join.
